GoGlobal Bursary Fund

"No single school can do World Christianity."

So says Diane Stinton, Regent's Associate Professor of Mission Studies, in describing Regent's GoGlobal courses. Regent benefits wonderfully from the diverse viewpoints and experiences that students bring from around the globe. Something very powerful also happens, though, when we step beyond the familiarity of our own world and say to our brothers and sisters elsewhere, "Could we also come and learn from you, with you, in your own context?"

Here's how one participant on the "Into Kenya" GoGlobal course describes it:

To hear and see how the lordship of Jesus and the in-breaking of his Kingdom is manifested in this particular context expanded my vision of who God is and what He is doing in the world. GoGlobal courses are ones in which deep transformation and unity by the Spirit come through listening, conversation and dialogue.

With the "Into Kenya" course now well-established (and due to run again in 2017), Regent is launching its next GoGlobal course this summer, "Theology and Ministry in Latin America," in Costa Rica. Current Regent student Derek Chu shares how he sees this course fitting in with his overall Regent education:

I think it’s invaluable to learn theology and ministry within the context of the Majority World, alongside what I’m learning here in Vancouver. This way I will have a more global perspective on God, his Church, and his work in the world; as well as my own role in the Global Church.

Many of the students who would benefit from this powerful learning experience need financial assistance to afford the course. We're seeking $10,000 for the GoGlobal Fund this year to ensure that more students can have life-changing encounters like this. Your gift will help students like Derek partake in this transformative opportunity.
