Regent and Fujimura Institute to Host Arts Weekend in New York City
Regent College, in cooperation with the Fujimura Institute is hosting an Arts Weekend in New York City on July 10–11, 2015.
This is an opportunity to grow in your appreciation of how Christian faith interacts with visual art. Experience the "Discovering Japanese Art" exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art guided by Mako Fujimura, an internationally renowned artist and scholar with unparalleled knowledge of Japanese art. Presentations by Jeff Greenman and Phil Long will provide additional biblical and theological reflection on Christian engagement with the arts.
Participants can expect an extraordinarily rich weekend of dialogue and learning in a relaxed setting around museum visits, shared meals, and engaging presentations.
"From its inception, Regent has valued the arts as an integral part of theological education and spiritual formation. This valuing of the arts has been, and continues to be, theologically based and deeply integrated into the vision of Regent College," says Regent College President Jeff Greenman. "We are delighted to partner with the Fujimura Institute, which enables us to take our conversation about the connection between faith and the creative arts to a deeper level. Our shared program in New York City signals Regent's commitment to championing a deeply integrative Christian vision."
"The partnership between Fujimura Institute and Regent College brings new opportunities, connecting Vancouver and New York City, art and faith, culture care and theological care. We are very much looking forward to this summer journey to the Metropolitan Museum," says Mako Fujimura.
