You are invited to the Lookout Gallery at Regent College for the opening reception of "Encountering Darkness, Painting Light," by Karina Svalya. The reception will take place on Thursday, Mar. 30, from 4:30 – 7:30 pm.

Karina completed this collection of paintings as a component of her Integrative Project in Arts and Theology (IPIAT). Stay after the reception for her IPIAT presentation at 7:30 pm, and hear Karina share the theological exploration at work in her pieces. 

The artist's description of the show is as follows: 

"This collection of rugged Californian seascapes draws a parallel between a visit to the ocean and the biblical motif of a journey into the wilderness. Both are places where God can be encountered in what the apophatic tradition calls darkness. These coastal scenes, like the wilderness, invite us to the unexplored landscape of our own inner geography."

We hope you'll join us for this exciting event. The paintings will remain on display in the gallery until May 4.
