Online Course Administrator

Part-time, Permanent (Up to 21 hours per week)

The OC Administrator will, under the direction of the Registrar, ensure the overall functioning and delivery of asynchronous online-only courses at Regent College. The OC Administrator will provide support in course planning and development, inviting and contracting instructors, overseeing course content creation, scheduling, and other set-up and running of courses, handle inquiries from students and instructors, ensure the quality and efficiency of our administration, manage authorization to deliver online courses to the United States, and maintain our databases. 

The hourly rate for this position is $24 to $26 per hour.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Communicate with online-only asynchronous instructors about all things course-related, including expectations, delivery modality, procedures, and deadlines.
  • Set up online-only asynchronous courses from start to finish (from preparing syllabi to setting up courses on Moodle).
  • Assist instructors with recording lectures by preparing instructional materials and providing support.
  • Process new recorded lectures with video software and upload them to Vimeo and Moodle.
  • Communicate with prospective and current online-only asynchronous students about registration, course requirements, technology, extensions, etc.
  • Facilitate the development of new online-only asynchronous courses and the approval of new online-only faculty.
  • Prepare payment requisitions for online-only instructors and other related expenses (e.g., webcam and microphone equipment, software licenses).
  • Manage the online courses webpage.
  • Update the Online Course Student Handbook.
  • Expand  and maintain State Authorization for online courses that are potentially accessible to residents in the United States.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • The successful candidate must understand and support the ethos and mission of Regent College as articulated in the Theological Position (http://www.regent-college.edu/about-us/theological-position).
  • A university degree would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with and interest in online learning and course development.
  • Comfortable with both Apple and PC operating systems and a variety of software programs, including Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel) and video recording, calling, and editing suites (e.g. Camtasia, Zoom, Figma).
  • Experience in working with a learning management system (Moodle).
  • Ability to initiate collaborative efforts with others in an academic setting, including individuals with a range of technical skills and experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to troubleshoot software issues.
  • A demonstrated aptitude for learning computer systems.
  • High level of organization and organized and strong administrative skills.
  • High level of self-motivation and ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • A friendly, diplomatic disposition.
  • Experience dealing with the public and a desire to interact with people.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
