The Holy Spirit & the Arts
This course is also offered as ARTS 564
Course Description
For centuries, many have perceived a strong bond between the work of the Spirit and artistic creativity. Talk of inspiration, spirituality, and the life of the spirit abounds when the arts are in view. This course asks why this might be so. What is it about the arts that lends itself so easily to “spirit-talk,” and what is it about the person and work of the Holy Spirit that often leads us to talk about the arts, aesthetics, and artistic creativity? Finally, how can the arts be more effective agents of the Spirit’s activity in the church and world?
