PROGRESS & UPDATES

News Archive: April 2006

Campaign Donations and Pledges

With your prayers and generous giving, we are pleased to report that $13.1 million in gifts and pledges has been raised to date! With $1.4 million to go, we are looking forward to completing the projects debt free. Thank you for your support of these important projects for Regent College. Your partnership with us is so appreciated.

Construction Update

Library construction is progressing well – on time and on budget. Beginning last week, concrete walls began appearing around parts of the perimeter. Bill Stewart (our Building Committee Chair) says that approximately 230 cement trucks will continue to pour concrete for the foundation and structure of the Library over the next few weeks. It has been very interesting to watch the daily progress. Our web cam is still pointed at the Library construction.

We continue to praise God that costs (so far) have been kept within our budget. With the Library construction well underway, the Building Committee is focusing on specific design renovations that will best utilize the space in our current building. When the new Library and renovations are completed, up to 9 new classrooms and seminar rooms will be created. These additions will be greatly welcomed by our faculty and students!

Our Opening Celebration will be held in late Spring, 2007. Be assured we will send you advance notice, and we hope that you will be able to attend.

News from Around the College

Regent’s annual Pastors’ Conference (www.regent-college.edu/pastorsconference) draws together church and lay leaders from across North America. This year’s conference will be held May 9-12 and will focus on equipping church leaders to be attentive to the “movements of grace” in their lives. Larry Crabb will be joining other Regent faculty for this 4-day conference. The Traditions Conference (www.regent-college.edu/tradition) this year will feature Regent’s Emeritus Faculty Gordon Fee and Paul Stevens on May 27. These two conferences lead into a full schedule of Spring and Summer School courses. It’s a great lineup of courses and teachers that are attracting students from around the globe.

Convocation this year will be held on Monday evening, May 1st at Broadway Church in Vancouver. Typically attracting up to 2,000 guests, convocation is a time of great celebration as graduates are commissioned for service wherever God leads them.

And as we near the end of the academic term, please pray for our students that they will have the grace and endurance to ‘finish well’ all their course requirements.

Thank you, again, for your commitment to help Regent write the Next Chapter. It’s wonderful to have you as partners in God’s work at Regent.

If you have any questions about the Next Chapter capital campaign, please feel free to contact me at nextchapter@regent-college.edu.

With warm regards,

Brent
