Campaign Chairpersons:
Jan & Eugene Peterson
Eugene and Jan Peterson have been cherished members of the Regent community for almost 15 years. Eugene is now Professor Emeritus of Spiritual Theology at Regent. As a lecturer and prolific writer, Eugene’s ability to weave penetrating insights and disarming truths into the fabric of genial conversation always leaves us eager for more. As people, Jan and Eugene embody warmth, generosity and qualities of true friendship. We are honoured to have them join the Writing the Next Chapter campaign as honorary co-chairs.
“When we arrived at Regent College in 1993 we entered a flourishing community of prayer and learning that we hardly knew existed: the international mix of ethnicities, the faculty camaraderie, the unself-conscious integration of the life of faith and the life of learning. It felt like coming home to a home that we didn’t know existed. It continues to flourish.
Meanwhile the library, quietly underground, provides nutrients for the seeds of faith and learning that sprout and grow and come to harvest in the lives of our students and professors. Of late it has become apparent that we don’t have adequate soil to maintain the growth and maturation of this kingdom-of-God-seed that is being sown.
Borrowing from Paul’s metaphors, we in the Regent community are now taking up our assignments in God’s field, God’s building, God’s library, while God “gives the increase” (1 Cor. 3:5:11).
