Canadian Tax Relief for Charitable Giving

Charities play an invaluable role in assisting Canadians, and in contributing to our sense of community and to important projects in the cultural, education and social sectors. To encourage charitable giving, the Government of Canada’s 2006 Federal Budget proposes to eliminate capital gains tax on certain donations to charities.

Click here for more information from the Government of Canada website.

If you wish to donate securities or stocks to Regent, please contact our Development office at (604) 221.3314 or call our toll free line at 1.800.663.8664 and ask for Richard Thompson.

U.K. Donors

If you are a UK taxpayer, the Friends of Regent College Canada Trust can reclaim tax paid on your gift from the UK Government. If you are a higher rate taxpayer, then you may obtain tax relief for the payment in your self assessment tax return. This is accomplished through the Gift Aid System. Please visit www.friendsofregent.org.uk for details on the Trust and to download the necessary forms.
