In Memoriam -Nicholas Wilson
July 12, 1948 - December 6, 2005
Last November we received news at Regent that our dear friend and alumnus,
Nicholas Wilson (MDiv’ 95) had become very ill during a visit to family
in England. Nicholas was hospitalized and died on December 6 at the age of
57. His wife, Margaret, was with him.
A funeral service in England was held December 14 at St. James Church in
the town of Garlinge. Nicholas's friend Chris Kelley spoke at the funeral.
Chris was the pastor who performed the marriage ceremony for Nick and Margaret.
He was also the one who first suggested to Nicholas that he should attend
Regent College. Alumnus and friend, Jonathan (DipCS’96; MCS ’06)
was also asked to speak, and attended the service with wife, Jessica.
Upon returning to Vancouver, Margaret and the family attended a memorial
service in celebration of Nicholas’ life held January 18, 2006 at St.
John’s (Shaughnessy) Anglican Church. The service was attended by many
friends and colleagues from Nick and Margaret’s various communities
including: Regent, St. John’s church family, BC Women’s Hospital,
and StoneCroft Ministries. Eulogies were presented by Charles Gibson (MDiv’97),
Rachel Samways (Nicholas’ sister), Rod Wilson (Regent President), J.I.
Packer (Regent faculty), Juliet Henderson (MDiv’99 and chaplain colleague
at BC Women’s).
For those who may want to be in touch with Margaret, she will continue to
reside at their home until August 2006, when she will return to live in Toronto,
Ontario, while working in leadership with StoneCroft Canada. Her current mailing
