CHRISTIAN COUNSELLING LAB
APPL535: 3 graduate credit hours, 20 maximum.
Prerequisite: APPL 530
January 25-26, February 22-23, March 28-29, 2008
The aim of this course is to enhance counselling abilities through the systematic development of relational and communication skills. Students should expect a major stress on the practical dimensions of counselling as they are rooted in personal character and theoretical understanding. Through the creation of a laboratory environment, students will be able to reflect on their own strengths and weaknesses, become more aware of effective and ineffective helping strategies, and understand people in a more holistic fashion.

ACADEMIC WRITING
January 25-26, Friday 1:00pm – 4:00pm,
Saturday, 9:00am - 4:00pm
GENR 311: non-credit
Cost: $35 (If you are NOT registered for any other Regent courses for the Winter Term, the $35 registration fee is waived.)
Writing is a vital academic skill. It forms the basis for evaluating a student’s grasp of material; it facilitates the learning process. This course is designed to help students research and write papers that will be required during their course of study at Regent. The students will receive instruction in reading and thinking critically and in improving their writing abilities. The course is especially appropriate for those who have a technical (rather than an arts) background, those who are returning to formal study after some years, and for Internationals who have a command of English but lack experience in English writing. During the semester, students may participate in one-on-one tutorials which will focus on individual problems and concerns.
