THE DIPLOMA IN CHRISTIAN STUDIES (DipCS)
The DipCS is a 24-credit hour program designed to provide
university graduates with both a biblically-based understanding
of the Christian faith and the tools for an ongoing life of Christian
study and practical service. It is a highly flexible program,
and allows students a great deal of choice in their selection of
classes. The diploma requires a minimum of one year to complete,
and can also form the first year of the Masters programs.
THE MASTER OF CHRISTIAN STUDIES DEGREE (MCS)
The 60-credit hour
Master of Christian Studies program reflects the heart of Regent's
mission, and represents the College's focus on educating, nurturing
and equipping the laity to live and work as servant leaders.
The MCS provides graduate theological education for men and women
called to vocations in either professional or ministerial settings.
It is also Regent's recommended degree for those
anticipating further graduate studies in preparation for an academic career.
MCS students explore the integration of faith and life by developing skills
for interpreting Scripture, by completing courses in each of the theological
disciplines and by focusing in depth on a chosen area of concentration. For
completion of the degree, students select one of four options: writing a
thesis, taking a comprehensive exam, doing a ministry research project, or
doing an arts thesis project. The MCS normally requires between two and three
years to complete.
THE MASTER OF DIVINITY DEGREE (MDiv)
The 90-credit Master of
Divinity program is a vocational degree for students specifically
intending to enter full-time Christian service (e.g., parish
ministers, missionaries, full-time non-ordained workers within
the church, parachurch workers, and other types of vocational
Christian leaders). The MDiv supports the mission of the College
by preparing people for leadership roles within the church
and other Christian organizations who share the same vision of
claiming the whole of human life for Jesus Christ.
THE MASTER OF THEOLOGY DEGREE (THM)
The ThM degree builds on
the MDiv or the MCS program and thus requires a high level
of academic achievement with particular emphasis on research
and further specialization, including a thesis. The ThM program
is 30 credits if entering with an MDiv, or 60 credits if
entering from an MCS (or equivalent).
