NEXT CHAPTER CELEBRATION WEEKEND
On September 29 Regent College officially opened our new library and renovated facilities with an open house and evening of thanksgiving for the successful conclusion of the Next Chapter capital campaign. Click here for the story and images.
TRUE NORTH TOWER UNWRAPPED
Design to provide both airflow functionality for the Regent College library below and library and an artistic centrepiece for the redesigned park, the new True North tower was unveiled under sunny skies May 18. Click here for images and information on the tower and its design.
NEW LIBRARY OPENS FOR USE
The new Regent College library opened January 27. At the end of the weekly chapel service President Rod Wilson made the announcement and invited everyone to come down and view the new facility. See the Next Chapter Building Progress Gallery for images of the library and opening day.

RIKK WATTS ON "THE GOSPEL OF JUDAS"
The recent National Geographic TV special on the The Gospel of Judas and the subsequent feature article in their magazine has created a bit of a media frenzy. In response, Regent professor of New Testament Studies Rikk Watts has written an article on the subject, which can be read in our Footnotes web log.

STAN GRENZ PASSES AWAY
Dr. Stanley J. Grenz, Pioneer McDonald Professor of Theology at Carey Theological College and a frequent teacher at Regent, died early Saturday morning, March 12, 2005, as a result of a massive brain hemorrhage. Click here for more information and tributes to Stan.
J.I. PACKER IN TIME MAGAZINE
The Regent College Board of Governors' Professor of Theology has been named by TIME as one of the top 25 most influential evangelicals in America. Also included on the list was Mark Noll, a frequent teacher at Regent College. Click here to view TIME's online version of the article.

NEW BOOKS BY REGENT FACULTY
Two of Regent's faculty members have recently released books through Regent College Publishing. Darrell Johnson's Discipleship on the Edge drives home the challenging and practical message of Revelation in carefully crafted sermons, while Maxine Hancock draws on her many years of experience on an Alberta farm in the devotional and inspirational Gold From the Fire. LOOKOUT GALLERY - SANDRA BOWDEN COLLECTION
From June 2 to August 8, 2004, The Lookout Galley at Regent College was proud to host more than fifty biblical narratives from the private collection of Sandra Bowden, an artist and the President of Christians in the Visual Arts (CIVA). The images, dating from the sixteenth through the twentieth centuries, illustrate scenes from Jesus' life and Passion. The collection permits on an intimate scale the examination of iconography over time, the influence of traditional imagery on contemporary Christian art, and an exploration of printmaking techniques and print collecting. IN MEMORIAM: MATT SWANSON
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Matt Swanson. Matt went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 7, 2004, after a year-long struggle with cancer. He was 32. As well as being a student of Regent from 1998-2003, both Matt and his wife Renee worked in various capacities at the College during their time with us. Matt graduated from the MDiv program in 2003, then went to work as chaplain at Geneva College, PA, until his passing. Matt, Renee and their young two boys, Jacob and Simon, were good friends to many in the Regent community and his loss is deeply felt. But as Renee wrote to us, "Our dear Matt is finally and truly cancer-free." Follow this link to read more about Matt's life.
LOREN WILKINSON SPEAKS AT TOLKIEN SYMPOSIUM
In early March Regent Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies Loren Wilkinson travelled to Scotland to speak at a symposium entitled Inside Tolkien’s Mind. Held at the University of St. Andrews, this one-day event marked the 65th anniversary of Tolkien’s landmark essay On Fairy-Stories, first presented March 8th, 1939 at St. Andrews University. IN MEMORIAM: IMMANUEL ANYAKWO
On January 8th, 2004, Regent student Immanuel Anyakwo passed away after a six-month struggle with gastric cancer. Immanuel came to us in the fall of 2002 from Nigeria and threw himself into the course of his studies with verve and enthusiasm. During his brief time with us Immanuel made a deep impact on the staff, faculty and students at Regent.
