Jennie McLaurin
Associate Professor, Bioethics, Dean of Students
BS (Salem College), MD (Wake Forest), MPH (North Carolina-Chapel Hill), MCS (Regent College)
After serving for an interim year, Jennie joined the Regent faculty in 2008. She offers direct care to students, oversees administrative functions of student life and teaches on the intersections of bioethics, theology and culture. Jennie has 20 years of public health experience working on behalf of migrant farmworker families in the United States. Trained as a pediatrician, she worked on local, state and national levels as a clinician, consultant and advisor on policies and programs affecting the mobile poor. She is recognized by the Health Resources and Services Administration of the United States as an expert in migrant health, and has published and lectured widely in this area. In 2001, the McLaurin family moved from their native North Carolina so Jennie could study at Regent. These studies culminated in her thesis which examined the relationships between culture, medicine, ethics and theology as understood by Christians today. In addition to bioethics, Jennie is interested in bridging understanding between science and faith. She lives in Ferndale, WA with her husband, Andrew, and their five children.
