Western Christianity often gravitates toward a triumphalist narrative, particularly in the arena of public faith. Though popular, this approach betrays a dysfunctional and warped theological imagination. The book of Lamentations provides a robust biblical response to triumphalism, teaching us to embrace the discipline of lament and cultivating a call for justice in troubled times.

This lecture is part of our 2017 Summer Evening Public Lecture series.
