Prophetic Lament: Moving from Triumphalism to Truth
Western Christianity often gravitates toward a triumphalist narrative, particularly in the arena of public faith. Though popular, this approach betrays a dysfunctional and warped theological imagination. The book of Lamentations provides a robust biblical response to triumphalism, teaching us to embrace the discipline of lament and cultivating a call for justice in troubled times.

Rev. Dr. Soong-Chan Rah is the Milton B. Engebretson Associate Professor of Church Growth and Evangelism at North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois.
