An idea sparked by positive experiences of Regent College Summer School, The Abbey Summer School is a new Scottish venture for 2014 and seeks to bring Christian teaching and nourishment to all Christians who like to think about their faith.
Somewhere between a conference and a festival (with a little bit of think-tank thrown in), this event sets out to explore Christian spirituality and theology through engaging with inspiring teachers such as Iain Provan, Brian Brock, Julie Canlis, and Sr Moira Donnelly. The aim is to reach towards something of the integration of thought and emotion, head and heart, spirituality and theology, as found in monastic abbeys before the split into abbey and university. For that reason, this will be more than just an academic summer school; there will be time at peace, for spiritual guidance, for laughter and music, for worship and reflection, and for interaction and discussion. This includes a time of reflection at the Abbey on Incholm Island.
