Sunday, May 4
Preaching at St. Peter and St. Paul's Anglican Church, 10:30 am
Sermon: "Busyness—Sleep and Kingdom Building" Mark 4:26-29
As we seek to do things for God, function missionally and co-create with God, we need to remind ourselves that kingdom growth is not based on human effort but on God’s work. The seed has power and all the farmer can do is scatter the seed. Being missional requires us to scatter seed but not live a frantic and frenetic life trying to serve.
Regent Alumni Gathering, 3:00-5:00 pm
Regent alumni in the Ottawa area, as well as those in town for the National Prayer Breakfast, are warmly welcome to join Rod Wilson for this informal reception. Come and reconnect with Regent friends old and new, and hear a short update of Regent life and times.
RSVP to Sharon Forsyth at [email protected] or call 1-604-221-3350.
Evening Lecture Café, 7:30-9:00 pm
Talk title: "Busyness—Weariness of Spirit and the Needs of Others"
Through advances in technology and communication, we are becoming more and more aware of the needs of others but in the process, we are also experiencing a deep weariness of spirit that disconnects us from the Father, from ourselves, and from others. Whether we are in pastoral ministry, working in the home, or serving in the marketplace, we are all wondering if it is even possible to live whole and holy lives in such a needy world.
Monday, May 5
Pastors' Event, 9:30-11:30 am
Talk title: "Busyness—Depletion and Replenishment in Pastoral Ministry"
What is driving people out of pastoral ministry is the unbelievable depletion that occurs in that arena and the inability to find replenishment in the middle of it all. And for those of us who stay in, we, or more likely, our friends and family, wonder whether the relationship between depletion and replenishment is so skewed that we will never recover and find wholeness.
